Nothing beats the feeling of getting eight or more hours of sleep every night. Definitely, it is the best habit to maintain good health inside and out. But between your daily tasks and the flurry of activity and errands that descend especially during the holidays, its quite impossible to fall asleep quickly, get enough sleep or wake up feeling energized and looking refreshed. Here are some tips to help you get better sleep before the holiday stress comes in.
#1: Skip Coffee
Heavy makeup is in whenever its Halloween but definitely not for skin - especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. Makeup does clog pores which can reduce oil and bacteria build-up resulting to acne. What makes it worse is when you tried using poor quality makeup which will surely wreak havoc on your skin. Now is the best time to ditch cheap cosmetics and invest in high quality, non-comedogenic makeup that is less likely to clog pores and cause breakouts.
#2: Unwind Your Mind
Have your me-time with a 10-minute meditation. According to a research, meditation can reduce stress and anxiety. Start clearing your mind and think of positive thoughts to prevent you from staying up all night. Try to list down some things to do for the next day so you wont think of those later at night. Putting both your body and mind at ease definitely helps you to sleep well.
#3: Soak & Relax
Take a relaxing hot shower or fill your tub with bath salts and soak for 10 to 20 minutes. This is a perfect way to indulge yourself for a therapeutic experience. An Epsom Salt can help you out if you want to soothe muscle aches and pains, treat tired feet, as well as to hydrate and soften your skin.
#4: Disconnect
Turn off your phone and other electronic devices. It is known to many that the blue light emitted from those tend to imitate daylight which can disrupt your sleep cycles. Instead, try to read a book for a few minutes to further reduce stress and encourage sleep.
#5: Create A Night Ritual
When you commit to having a skincare night routine, this will also remind your body that its almost time for bed. Apply a layer of body oil and then top it with a coat of moisturizer. This will leave you a cooling and refreshing feeling for a better beauty snooze. Dont forget to put on a sleeping mask so you can wake up to a glowing, well-rested complexion.
